This email will probably be long because then I'm not studying! Duh! Anyways, as you know we've brought up the A/B teams at practice last week. And we're going to be splitting the team in a few weeks, so right now is when you need to decide what ultimate means to you. One thing we would like to mention is that the team that you were on previously has no impact this year, everyone is starting with a fresh slate -- a new opportunity to step up, show your improvement and dedication, and prove yourself.
Rad and I have high goals for both teams this year. Specifically for the A team, we would like to make it Nationals. But that involves the whole team, and it includes practicing/working out/throwing/preparing outside of practice. I have asked a few of you periodically if you are throwing or lifting outside of practices, and honestly, I have been disappointed with the responses. There are a million excuses not to do something, but there's only one way to get it done. Look on the doodle chart, there are people who are free that can throw with you. The ARC is open from 6AM to 1AM on weekdays. Find a buddy! When Rad and I lift, we've never gone to the ARC before 8PM (on a weekday), nights are when it works for us, so that's when we go. Find a time, not an excuse. Your actions need to match your goals. You need to dedicate yourself, there's no time but now.
Decide if this is what you want and if it is, it's not too late to start! We need to all put our minds to it, motivate each other, and know that your teammates are working as hard as you are. You are not alone, this is a team effort. We are the Pleiades, and it's never enough! We're going to be looking for this passion and dedication to the team and the sport in the next few weeks when making roster decisions.
That said, we're not trying to make ultimate a chore. But you need to prepare for the speed bumps -- the extra workouts and occasional lack of time to hang out with friends. But hopefully when we're playing in the game to-go-to-nationals and fighting for our spot, you'll realize that it was all worth it and you would do it all over again. So, what can you do to help the Pleiades make it to nationals?
pleiades. nationals 2010. believe it. live it.
